Rondane was established as a National Park in 1962. The vegetation is sparse because of altitude and climate. Most of the area is characterized by impressive, barren mountains, narrow gorges and deep cirques. Animal life is poor in terms of species - among the typical species are wild reindeer, stray wolwerines, snow bunting, rock ptarmigan and wheatear.

Area : 580 km2
