Gressåmoen - Spruce Forest Characteristic of Trøndelag With Old-Growth Forest Features

Photo: Per Roger Lauritzen, DNT

This national park represents a typical transition landscape between forest and mountain in Nord-Trøndelag. The spruce forest bears few traces of logging. Large sections of the park are dominated by exposed bedrock. The park has lakes abounding in trout and burbot. Wading birds, with the whimbrels as a characteristic species, thrive in the wetland areas.
