Jostedalsbreen is a plateau glacier with several glacier arms. Material deposited by glaciers and glacier melt has generated a number of moraines and other interesting geological features. Fåbergstølgrandane is the largest area of active sand deposition in Norway. The national park is distinguished by contrasts with lush green u-shaped valleys reaching up to the glaciers. The glacier tongues are among the most visited tourist attractions in Norway.
