Ormtjernkampen is Norway's smallest national park. It was protected because it represents a typical eastern Norwegian old-growth spruce forest undisturbed by logging activities. Situated more than 780 meters above sea level, it is a mountain forest, although its lower parts exhibit lowland features. The park has a number of mountains, of which Ormtjernkampen (1,128 meters above sea level) is the highest.
