PAPER-16: Restoration of Agara Kere - A Brief Study
Kailash K.
Abstract:
Agara kere is located to the southeastern part of Bangalore. The lake is bound by Koramangala layout to its west, to the south by Hosur road, and is surrounded by Agara, Venkatapura, Jakkasandra and Vaganahalli. Presently, the entire lake is filled with weeds, due to which certain parts of the lake have almost turned into solid ground. Sewage is being let into the lake, huge transmission lines run through one side of the area. Certain species of flora and fauna are found still, but these species will certainly be lost very soon if proper restoration of the lake is not undertaken on a war footing. The proposed study aims at collection of preliminary data to aid in restoration of the lake.
