Abstract: The Eucla Basin hosts a world-class heavy mineral sands province, in terms of zircon content and grade, developed within Cenozoic Paleoshoreline systems that extend across Western Australia and into southeastern Western Australia. The basin contains several high-grade zircon deposits, including the Jacinth-Ambrosia deposit. Jacinth -Ambrosia has proved and probable ore reserves of 148 Mt at grade 4.6% heavy minerals and Zircon content ~51% of the total heavy minerals; current mining on the Jacinth ore body has capacity to produce around 300 000 tpa of zircon, ~20% of annual world demand (IIuka Resources 2011) . The Jacinth-Ambrosia heavy mineral sand deposits, together with other significant discoveries made in the last five years, all lie within paleocoastal, shoreface beach and dune sands of Late-Middle to Late Eocene and Miocene shorelines (Hou et al.2011). The concentration of heavy minerals in these beach placer deposits was the result of coastal traps interacting with westerly longshore drift maintained by prevailing winds, which strengthened as the climate cooled from around late-middle Ecocene through Oligocene time (Benbow 1990; Hou et al. 2008; Hou and keeling 2008).

Abstract: Traditional Fossil fuels are increasingly facing depletion& their depletion harmful effects, both through usage & extraction, have been identified as the key reason of environmental & ecological damage across the globe. These reasons have compelled industries& governments to look for alternative fuel solutions that fulfill the twin objective of being widely available besides having little to minimal impact on the environment.

Abstract: The demand for energy is increasing day by day; whereas energy resources are becoming scare and costlier. Hence the need for energy management has become more explicit and significant to limit the widening gap in supply and Demand. Any planning which keeps the resultant benefits beyond the reach of all section of society negates the very philosophy of integrated resource planning (IRP) and distribution side management (DSM).

Abstract: Smart power grid is an interdisciplinary area and domain which integrates communications, control, sensors, networking, distributed computing and decision making. The solution to such a diverse and complex problem is achieved through Multi-Agent System (MAS) or Intelligent Agents (IA) which uses distributed problem solving and artificial intelligence in providing autonomous property to the smart grid. One such application of multi Agents in Smart Grid is Energy Trading. In this article a basic MAS that simulates the energy market by using consumer, prosumer and Genco agents that buy and sell energy in a contracting auction is discussed. It also has a time and weather simulation and a GUI.The scope of this research is to use the existing MAS that support this simulation and to expand it by adding scalability and reliability improvements to make the system more usable. The system was limited to one host only and has no specific measures to prevent failures. The energy will be a reality in the near future.

Title: Natural gas requirements for Indian Power Sector

Subject: Electrical India.
Keywords: Natural gas, Indian Power Sector, Crude oil, Transportship/Pipeline, Refinery, LPG.
Abstract: The world wise use of natural gas has increased in preference to coal and has recorded a consistent CAGR of 9-10% for past 5 years. The same trends are seen in the Indian market and the growth is occurring due to expansion of the Power generating sector (through public and private sector routes), deterioration in coal quality and uneven growth in the coal supply sector which has been the traditional source for power sector growth. Major fraction of the natural gas goes towards power generation. As on date the indigenous production has not been able to keep pace with the growth and increased import of natural gas is inevitable. However, the open market cost of imported gas is going beyond the normal supply-demand dynamics because of the continuously widening market and superiority over coal as an environmentally friendly fuel. The domestic prices are around RS 25-38/kg for R-LNG as compared to Rs 49-58/Kg for LNG in the international market. The exploration of alternatives such as biogas and coal bed methanization is becoming inevitable in the near future.

Abstract: Both Electric utilities and end users of electric power are becoming increasingly concerned about the quality of electric power. Newer-generation load equipment, with microprocessor-based controls and power electronic devices, is more sensitive to power quality variations than was equipment used in the past. So, nowadays study of the power quality events while designing the power supply board is most important.

Abstract: In the present scenario, Non Technical Loss (NTL) during transmission of electrical energy is a major problem. Hence it is very essential to keep track of electrical consumption accurately. To maintain accurate readings of electricity consumed and to reduce Non-Technical Loss caused due to theft, tampering, etc., smart meters are being employed in many areas. Smart meter is a digital meter that records the energy consumption for the specified interval of time for which it is programmed. Smart meter with high accuracy, efficiency, security and theft resistance has replaced classical electrical meters. Nevertheless, unauthorized acts are still being continued even in smart meters.

Abstract: This Article presents an approach based on sensitivity based methods viz. Power Loss Index, index vector, and Power loss sensitivity to determine optimal location for the capacitors in radial distribution systems. The optimal size of the capacitors have been obtained to improve voltage profile and to reduce the losses in the network. The cost saving potential has been provided. The approaches are tested on IEEE-10 AND 22 bus systems radial distribution systems (RDS). Load growth and realistic load model as ZIP load model has also considered to obtain the impact on sizes of capacitor banks and the savings.

Abstract: The gap between electrical energy supply and demand is continuously increasing despite huge outlay for energy sector since independence. This gap between supply and demand of energy can be bridged with the help of energy conservation which is considered as a new source of energy and environmental friendly. The energy conservation is cost effective with a short payback period and modest investment. There is a good scope of energy conservation in various sectors, viz domestic, industry, agriculture. The planners have already started appreciating the role and significance of energy conservation in future energy scenario of India. An attempt is made in this article to access the need, achievements and further challenges of electrical energy conservation in Indian context.

Abstract: Microgrid is a new type of power system which consists of distributed generation sources (DG), storage system and loads that are operated as single entity. Microgrid can operate in two modes, grid connected mode and islanded mode. In grid connected mode, microgrid supplies or draws power from the utility grid depending upon generation and load balance. In case of utility/ grid failure, power shortage during interruption microgrid shifts to islanded mode of operation.
