PAPER-7
: Exploring the Aquatic Ecosystems
Sagar H.M.

Abstract:

Environment is secure when water is secure. The aquatic ecosystems must be made to live and let live for as a resource base they would have provided sustenance to millions down the ages. The term ‘pond', ‘tarn', ‘loch' etc are applied to smaller lakes according to their size and position. Lakes may be either of fresh or salt water. They make extraordinarily interesting environments.

Such beautiful lake network exists in Mysore, which are the life line and life veins of the city. If protected well, we can ensure to convert our land into a beautiful prosperous urban city, promoting eco-tourism and nature tourism, which could capitalise on the bio-diversity, commercialising and co-modifying it by declaring the area as protected zone.

I describe here the ecosystems of Mysore city while I have given detailed information with regard to why and how the lakes should be maintained.
