Abstract: Agastyamalai of Western Ghat hill ranging the adjoining forests in Tirunalveli and kanyakumari district of Tamilnadu and Trivendrum district of Kerala is adorned with substantial natural vegetation ranging from scrub to evergreen rain forest types. Complexity and diversity of flora has been made it an ideal gene pool sanctuary. Endemic plant species of southern peninsular India is abundant there. Due to its uniqueness, number of endemic floral and faunal representations and ease to protection, declaration of this area as a biosphere reserve is suggested.
