Abstract: Variations in nearshore wave power at four shallow-water locations along the east and west coast of India are examined based on the measured wave data for one-year period. The study shows that along the west coast of India, 83-85% of the annual wave power is during the summer monsoon period (June-September ), whereas at Visakhapatnam (on the east coast), 55% of the annual wave power is during the summer monsoon period. Along Puducherry coast in the east, wave power is relatively less with maximum value of 31.8 kWm-1. The average wave power during the summer monsoon is high (15.5-19.3 kWm-1) along the west coast of India. The study shows that the annual average wave power (1.8-7.6 kWm-1_ along the locations studied is much lower than that available for temperature zones.

Abstract: The membrane-associated F1F0-ATP synthase of bacteria plays a vital role in the production of energy molecule, i.e. adenosine triphosphate (ATP). However, under alkaline conditions, ATP synthesis in bacteria is not thermodynamically feasilbe due to external high pH. Various studies reported motifs in ATP synthase c-subunit as alkaliphile-specific features for adaptation under alkaline condition. Some conserved residues in alkaliphiles were observed in Stenotrophomonas species DL18 isolated from Indian alkaline Soda lake, Lonar, which has pH 10.5. The above-mentioned specific amino acid features in the studied alkaliphile may involve proton translocating mechanism for ATP synthesis. The studied motifs of F1F0-ATP synthase c-subunit of Stenotrophomonas species DL18 have GXGXGXA in the inner helix and GXXDXXF in the outer helix. The overall interacting residues of the c-subunit structure may be responsible for the ATP synthesis in particular pH conditions.

Abstract: In this article we have studied a scheme of partitioning the global carbon budget using an equity principle. In contrast to earlier approaches, this article carefully distinguishes between the two quantities- ' entitlements to carbon space ' . A positive feature of the carbon budgets approach to allocation of mitigation burdens discussed here is that a single framework for mitigation can be applied to all countries. The method offers a concrete operationalization of the principle of achieving the climate goals ' on the basis of equity and common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities. '

Abstract: Adequate stream flow measurement is vital for agricultural watershed management and its effect on many aspects of water balace parameters. For this reason soil water assessment tool (SWAT) has been applied for the measurement of the stream flow to the Tungabhadra catchment in India. This article describes a methodology for calibration and parameter uncertainty analysis for distributed model based on generalized likelihood measures. The sequential uncertainty domain parameter fitting algorithm(SUFI-2_ and generalized likelihood uncertainty equation (GLUE) of SWAT CUP (calibration and uncertainty program) work with multiple sets of parameter values and allow to user within the slight limitation of the model structure in boundary conditions and field observations. Performance of the SUFI-2 and GLUE techniques was evaluated using five objective functions, namely P-factor, R-factor, coefficient of determination R2, Nash-Sutcliffe (NS) and coefficient of determination divided by coefficient of regression bR2 calculated on daily and monthly time-steps. The obtained results showed that the observed and simulated discharge were not significantly different at the 95% level of confidence (95PPU). The results show excellent correlation during monthly calibration time-steps, whereas daily calibration exhibits relatively goos agreement between the observed and simulated flows.

Abstract: Hyperspectral remote sensing, because of its large number of narrow bands, has shown possibilityof discriminating the crops. Current study was carried out to select the optimum bands for discrimination among pulses, cole crops and ornamental plants using the ground-based Hyperspectral data in Patha village, Lalitpur district, Uttar Pradesh state and Kolkata, West Bengal state. The field observations of reflectance were taken using a 512-channel spectroradiometer with a range of 325-1075 nm. The stepwise discriminant analysis was carried out and separability measures, such as Wilks ' lambda and F-value were used as criteria for identifying the narrow bands. The analysis showed that, the best four bands for puse crop discrimination lie mostly in NIR and early MIR regions i.e. 750, 800, 940 and 960 nm. Within cole crops disrimination is primarily determined by the green, red and NIR bands of 550, 690, 740, 770 and 980 nm. The separability study showed the bands 420, 470, 480, 570, 730, 740, 940, 950, 970, 1030 nm are useful for discriminating flowers.

Abstract: DTM extraction from the ALS (Air borne Laser Scanning) point cloud is a complex task which involves many algorithms and numerical procedures. One of the first steps, performed to remove all of the terrain covering, is data filtration. There is a number of filtration methods and algorithms to chose from. In this paper wer would like to propose a filtration method based on fuzzy logic. We present basic information regarding fuzzy logic, the design of fuzzy rules and an example of point cloud processing. For comparison, results from the ATIN filtration method are presented.
