Conclusions :

Detailed investigation of two ecologically distinct regions shows that with an integrated approach in energy planning through a decentralised planning machinery it is possible to achieve the goal of sustainability. Education, awareness, people’s participation, economic benefits plays a vital role in the adoption of environmentally sound energy technologies. Currently growth of renewable, non-conventional energy technologies is limited only to biogas. In fact the region has potentiality to many other energy technologies like solar, wind, etc which are not in developmental stage mainly because of economic constraints. Energy plantation with species acceptable to local population can be implemented in wastelands available in Anthragange region to sustainablly develop economic, social and environmental system. The criteria and indicators of sustainability which are described in this paper clearly shows that Andarhalli is moving towards sustainability, whereas Anthragange is still far away from the the goal of sustainability.
