Abstract

Decentralised electricity generation or dispersed generation based on renewable energy (RE) sources addresses the issues related with reliability, voltage profile management and associated economic aspects. The paper also describes the use of long term spatial data for solar potential assessment using open sources Geographical Information System (GIS) platform and opportunities for exploiting solar energy in India.
