Trade in Woodfuel Related ProductsRegional Training CourseRWEDP Report No.25, September 1996
This report is a summary proceedings of the Regional Course on Trade in Woodfuel Related Products, held in Peshawar, Pakistan in October 1995, organised by RWEDP in collaboration with the Pakistan Forest Institute (PFI). The course brought together the pioneer experts who had contributed in the past by designing and conducting woodfuel flow studies in RWEDP member countries. The report includes two sets of activities identified by these experts through their mutual consultations as well as direct interactions with the course participants, for implementation at the national and regional levels for wood energy development, specific to the countries which fall under the country group of South Asia and Southeast Asia. Furthermore, the report also includes the background, objectives and structure of the course, the field visit, and an overview of the woodfuel trade in the region. Eight papers discuss aspects of woodfuel flows, such as patterns of supply and use of traded woodfuels, issues in the trading and marketing of woodfuels, and issues related to policy and strategy for commercialization of wood fuels.
