Abstract: Paper reviews the status of wild life and habitats of Karnataka State in India.The overview briefly covers available habitat types in the major biographic zones of the state; current distribution of important mammalian species; protection status of wild life and habitats in the recent years; and the existing and proposed nature reserve areas in Karnataka.
