Abstract: The influence of pH on toxicity of Zinc (ZnSO4) to a fresh water fish L. guneta was investigated. Toxicity of Zinc increased with increase in pH upto 8.0 and above pH 8.0 there was a gradual fall in the toxicity. The 96 hr LC 50 at pH 8.0 was found to be 11 mg/l. Which is 5.4and 3.8 times more toxic than at pH 5.5 and 0.5 respectively. At pH 8.0 there appeared to be some synergism between pH and toxicity .The whole body uptake of Zinc was to be maximum at pH 8.0.
