The French Institute of Pondicherry (FIP) has launched in the cartographic program for the Western Ghats area. Agreements were signed between French Institute of Pondicherry (FIP) and the state governments of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu for the preparation of forest maps at the scale of 1:250,000. These maps depict the actual state of the forest, their environmental conditions (climate, edaphic, biotic, administrative and their potentialities. This large scale is easy for higher degree of precision. Such an information becomes a bare for carrying out new fundamental research concerning the structure, floristic composition and making the tools of the environmental managers. Information on the distribution of endemic species in Western Ghats was gathered in a geographic database and was combined to the ecological distribution.
