Abstract: A phytogeographic analysis of the flora of Kalakad, based of different taxa is presented. The distributional spectrum reveals, that of the 550 species of vascular plants enumerated from Kalakad, 18 species are endemic to Tirnelveli and Travancore Hills, 73 species are restricted to Western Ghats and 116 are confined to Peninsular India .The phytogeorgarphic significance of the area is discussed and the need for conservation is emphasized.
