Dear Aldo-Pier Solari:
We have been working with remote sensing through a NASA contract to
bring space-based technology to the commercial and sport fishing
industry. We have developed a ship-based low resolution weather and
sea surface temperature system for Landsat and Meteor satellites and
are currently working on a high resolution system using AVHRR. We
have a home page at http://www.ocens.com where you can get more
information and view a demo of the imaging software.
Attached is a download from our Space Library on AVHRR and sea
surface temperature. Some of the references may not be relevant to
your topic but I thought I would give you all we had on the topic.

that you contact Dr. Paul Fiedler at NOAA's Southwest Fisheries
Science Center in La Jolla, CA. Paul works in this field and should
be able to help you. There is also remote sensing research being
conducted at the Southeast Fisheries Science Center laboratory in
Beaufort, North Carolina. I cannot remember the scientist' name,
but it is a small laboratory so a phone call to the Director's
