Announcing ReSelect - Resource Selection Analysis Software
******************************************************************
The first public beta of ReSelect (Resource Selection Analysis Software is
available. ReSelect was developed to analyze preferences or avoidances from
a habitat/cover types study, feeding trials, etc., using five methods. The
methods include the Neu et al. (1974), Johnson (1980), Friedman (1937),
Quade (1979) and compositional analysis (Aebischer et al. 1993). The first
4 methods have been the subject of intensive study by Alldredge and Ratti
(1986, 1992).
Requirements
80286 CPU (386 or better recommended)
Math coprocessor (optional)
DOS 3.0 or higher
600K of conventional memory
Mouse (optional)
Limitations
Currently, ReSelect will handle up to a 20 by 20 data matrix (i.e. 20
animals and 20 resources). [I have not tested the full data matrix.]
No documentation - Most people will get by with the README file and the
online help.
Where to get it
Anonymous FTP to ftp.wildlife.uidaho.edu (login as anonymous and enter
your e-mail address as password). Then change directory (cd) to
/pub/software, and get rsbeta.exe. Remember to set your ftp program to
transfer in binary mode. After you have downladed the self-extracting
EXE (rsbeta.exe), create a directory (say RESELECT) on your hard disk
and copy or move rsbeta.exe to it. While in the RESELECT directory,
type "rsbeta" (without the quotes) to extract the files in it.
You may also cut and paste this URL:
ftp://ftp.wildlife.uidaho.edu/pub/software/rsbeta.exe
Enjoy!
