The GIS Laboratory of the Department of Geography at The Ohio State University provides technical support to the GIS facility located at the La Selva Biological Station in Costa Rica. La Selva is operated by the Organization of Tropical Studies, a consortium of 50+ universities. Since Costa Rica does not yet have Internet service (and since La Selva is many miles into the forest and has poor phone service), OTS maintains a Sun workstation in this laboratory (JAGUAR) which mirrors the La Selva database (original on SLOTH at La Selva). This database is in ARC/INFO format and is available to authorized researchers via Telenet.
