"A European peer-reviewed journal publishing data papers, either
observational or theoretical, as well as extensive data material
forming the basis of papers with astrophysical results published
in the Main Journal (published by Springer Verlag)." Access is
free for 1996.

2. Chemical Patents Plus -- from Chemical Abstracts
Chemical Patents Plus, an information retrieval service provided
by Chemical Abstracts, is available via the Web. After register-
ing, interested users can freely search and receive title and
abstract information for chemical patents going back to 1971.
Other options, such as patent number, front page and all claims,
and complete patent, are fee based. The service is available from
6:00 p.m. Sunday through 10:00 p.m. Friday and from 3:00 a.m
through 6:00 p.m. Saturday.

3. Data Communications magazine on the Web :
Data Communications magazine is the world's leading source of in-
depth information about networking products, services, and tech-
nologies for corporate net managers. This regularly updated site
features product roundups and reviews, hands-on tests of high-end
networking gear, technology tutorials, case studies, user sur-
veys, and special reports on global networking. Data Communica-
tions on the Web is open to all visitors without restriction, but
requires registration. Registered visitors will be eligible to
receive updates and data not posted to this site.

GRATIS! is a free, sponsored, weekly newsletter dedicated to the
proposition that everybody deserves something for nothing every

11. Radon Research Centre
"Radon is a colourless, odourless and tasteless radioactive gas.
It arises as a by product of the decay of Uranium - itself a
naturally occuring element found in granite and certain other
types of rock. Radon is present in minute quantities around us
all the time. Normally, the radiation dose we receive from this
source is very small, and it is only a problem if it is allowed
to build up in an inhabited area such as homes, public buildings
and schools. Being a gas, it is breathed into the lungs where it
has been shown to cause an increased risk of lung cancer rates."

lists from 1803 sites. Supports a powerful search facility ena-
bling quick identification of mailing lists.

This is the inaugural issue of InfoWatch, a monthly electronic
newsletter, brought out by the National Centre for Science Infor-
mation (NCSI), Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore - 560 012,
INDIA. Information in the newsletter is collected and verified by
NCSI staff. The newsletter aims to raise awareness of new sources
of information on the Internet, particularly those which are
relevant for higher education and research. Some items may be of
relevance only to the IISc community.
Resources reported here have been taken from various discussion
lists and other network tools and no special claims are made for
accuracy or originality. Most of the sources cited in the news-
letter were checked at the time of publication, however it is
