From: "Wallace, Richard" <rwallace@URSINUS.EDU> To: ECOLOG-L@LISTSERV.UMD.EDU Subject: Tenure track position in environmental studies Dear Ecolog list members: We have just opened a search for a tenure-track faculty member in our environmental studies program. I'm chairing the search and will be happy to answer any questions. While the area of "sub-field" disciplinary focus is open, we are interested in receiving applications from individuals with backgrounds and expertise in the biological and ecological sciences. Please share or post this as you will. My apologies for cross-postings. Thanks! All my best, Rich Wallace Ursinus College ----------------- Assistant Professor - Environmental Studies Ursinus College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of environmental studies to begin in fall 2004. A Ph.D. in environmental studies or a related field is expected by the start of employment. We seek a broadly trained individual with expertise in interdisciplinary environmental teaching and research. The area of ancillary research and pedagogical interests is open. Prior experience teaching in an interdisciplinary environmental program is highly desirable. Teaching responsibilities will include core courses in environmental studies, as well as courses in the candidate's area of expertise. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts setting and will be expected to participate in the College's interdisciplinary liberal studies freshman seminar, supervise student research projects, implement a program of scholarly activity, and participate in the continuing development of the environmental studies program. Send a letter, c.v., undergraduate and graduate transcripts, statement of teaching philosophy, research plan involving students, and three letters of recommendation (at least one of which must address teaching) to Dr. Richard L. Wallace, Chair, Environmental Studies Search Committee, Ursinus College, P.O. Box 1000, Collegeville, PA 19426. For full consideration, applications must be received by November 1st, 2003. For inquiries contact Dr. Wallace at rwallace@ursinus.edu (no e-mail applications, please).
