LIVE PROGRESS REPORTS on the CLIMATE TREATY NEGOTIATIONS
ECO Climate Change Newsletters
Live and direct from the UN climate negotiations
COP-2 in Geneva
Monday 8th to Friday 19th July 1996
Every day or two for the next two weeks you can receive your own copy of
ECO direct from the second "Conference of the Parties" (COP2)
ministerial-level meeting of the Climate Change Convention (signed at the
Earth Summit in Rio, 1992).
**** APC USERS NOTE: Full text of these newsletters will be posted to
the climate.news and climate.forum conferences ****
ECO is:
the definitive source - it's what government negotiators and journalists
alike read to find out what's really going on at the negotiations.
Produced and written by the Climate Action Network (consisting of over 160
Non-Governmental Organizations from around the world), and distributed
electronically worldwide, ECO's contributors include leading independent
scientists and political analysts, giving you unrivaled access to the
negotiations and what they really mean.
Countries are currently negotiating a protocol to the Convention, which
will set out how greenhouse gas emissions are to be limited after the year
2000. The Protocol must be agreed by 1997, so the Second Conference of the
Parties represents a key stage in the process. ECO, as always, will be
helping participants and observers keep up to speed on the latest
developments.
