World Energy Investment Outlook will be released by the OECD’s
energy arm the International Energy Agency on 4th November 2003. A
follow-up to the highly acclaimed World Energy Outlook 2002, this is the
first major study to undertake a detailed analysis of the global energy
investment challenge.

World Energy Investment Outlook assesses the amount of investment that
will be needed across the energy supply chain by fuel – oil, gas,
coal, electricity and renewables – for each world region up to 2030.
It also identifies the obstacles that must be overcome in order to
mobilise this investment, meet anticipated demand and ensure long-term
energy supply security. The study includes analyses of the investment
implications of a range of alternative scenarios and policy options,
including restricted investment in Middle East oil production capacity,
the impact of environmental policies on investment, universal electricity
access and carbon sequestration technologies.

In helping ensure that key energy policy and investment issues are
identified in a timely manner, World Energy Investment Outlook will be
essential reading for energy policymakers, investment planners and those
concerned with the evolution of the global energy system and the
long-term security of energy supply.
