The Andrew W. Breidenbach Environmental Research Center (AWBERC) 
Library, located in Cincinnati, provides scientific and technical 
information in support of EPA's research programs, as well as 
environmental information to other federal agencies, the regulated 
community, and the general public.  In addition, the AWBERC Library 
houses the largest scientific/technical collection in the EPA 
Library Network, including more than 22,000 books, 800 journal 
subscriptions, and over 200,000 technical reports.  The Library's 
major subject areas include: Bacteriology; Biotechnology; Hazardous 
Waste; Risk Assessment; Toxicology; Wastewater Treatment; Water 
Pollution; and Water Quality.  The home page is broken down into a 
number of sections, including:  AWBERC Library Collections; List of 
AWBERC's CD-ROM databases (LAN-Based and Library-Based); AWBERC 
Library Electronic Newsletter (which provides notable Internet 
sources); Online Library System (OLS), the Libraries' Catalog; 
Sources for EPA Publications; and Other Environmental Information 
Sources on the Web.


Water Environment WEB

The Water Environment Federation (WEF) launched its Water 
Environment WEB - the Federation's Home Page - March 31st, an 
interactive electronic resource designed to provide pertinent and 
comprehensive information on water quality and environmental 
issues.  According to a WEF press release, the Water Environment 
WEB "will be a conduit of water quality information, and serve as 
a guide to the Federation's programs, activities, services, and 
related news.  This home page also provides "hot links" to other 
organizations, including EPA, for additional water quality 
information.  Water Environment WEB contains ten separate 
categories:  What's New; WEF Technical Resources; Technical 
Discussion Groups; Member Networking (includes a Job Bank); 
Regulations and Legislation; WEF Member Programs; Member 
Association Exchange: Public Information (curriculum materials, 
factsheets, etc.); Company/Supplier Locator; and Water Environment 
Research Foundation.  The "Company/Supplier Locator", which is 
indexed and keyword searchable, is especially extensive.  Users 
will also appreciate the interactive nature of "Technical 
Discussion Groups," a forum for professionals who are looking to 
discuss subjects such as watershed management and biosolids 
management.

NORTEL Habitat

NORTEL Habitat is a multi-lingual interactive resource which aims 
to provide ideas to assist corporations in building effective 
solutions to their environmental issues.  NORTEL stands for 
Northern Telecom Limited, a Canadian telecommunications company 
that has achieved some success in the environmental performance 
arena.  NORTEL, as stated in its welcoming note, is "committed to 
leading the telecommunications industry in protecting and enhancing 
the environment," and taking the "initiative to develop solutions 
to the environmental issues that arise because of its products, 
operations and business activities."  The web site contains:  
NORTEL's corporate environmental report, including a 1994 
Environmental Progress Report and a 1993 Environmental Review; the 
Environmental Management System, a corporate standard which 
describes the system required to provide consistent management of 
products and processes that affect the environment; the 
Environmental Performance Index, a measurement tool developed by 
NORTEL and Arthur D. Little which provides a single rating of a 
company's performance against its stated environmental goals; 
Envirobase, a downloadable database developed by NORTEL to track, 
organize, and deliver key environmental information in an efficient 
manner; and the Public Environmental Reporting Initiative (PERI), 
recommended guidelines for corporate environmental reporting 
developed by NORTEL and nine other multi-national companies.  The 
web site also provides links to other global environmental 
resources, as well as information on how to receive additional 
environmental performance materials from NORTEL.


Rio Grande Coastal Impact Monitoring Program

The Rio Grande Coastal Impact Monitoring Program (RGCIMP), located 
at the University of Texas - Pan American Coastal Studies 
Laboratory and facilitated and coordinated by the Texas General 
Land Office - Coastal Division, seeks to document pollutant 
discharges from the Rio Grande and associated drains into the south 
Texas coastal waters, and to document the impacts of these 
pollutants.  The following information is currently available on 
the RGCIMP Home Page:  Water Related Resources of the Rio Grande 
Valley of Texas:  An Annotated Bibliography, which covers 846 
publications; Literature Survey of the Lower Rio Grande and 
Associated Coastal Waters, a review which identifies non-point 
pollution, toxic substances, and freshwater inflows from the Rio 
Grande and Arroyo Colorado; Toxic Contaminants Survey of the Lower 
Rio Grande, Lower Arroyo Colorado, and Associated Coastal Waters; 
and Real-time Monitoring of Water Quality and Hydrodynamics at the 
Mouth of the Arroyo Colorado, Texas.  A link to the Texas General 
Land Office is also provided, where users may view other 
environmental documents, news, and general information (job 
postings, maps, press releases, etc.).


Club Fed - Federal Employees News Digest

The Federal Employees New Digest is a weekly publication containing 
news and information of interest to federal workers.  Club Fed, the 
on-line home of the publication, provides an overview of the 
current issue of the Federal Employees News Digest; the latest 
Feature Report in full-text; a report on Survivor Benefits; the 
1996 general schedule pay tables; a Feature Report archive; the 
Club Fed Marketplace; and a Reader Forum, where browsers can offer 
their comments and opinions on government employee issues.  
Electronic delivery of the weekly Digest, as well as various 
publications put out by the Federal Employees News Digest 
(almanacs, "Your Furlough Guide," etc.) is available only on a fee 
basis, but visitors should leave the site with a good understanding 
of the issues currently on the minds of federal workers.
