Systran Software offers Free Translations of HTML documents from their
website:
http://www.systransoft.comdeu/=20_java/ml

* Netscape 1.2+ and Microsoft's Internet Explorer 2.0+ are the only fully
supported browsers.

* Documents must be accessible from the Internet at large. This means you
cannot translate a document that lives on your hard disk. The process of
translation requires the translation system to act as a client: just like=
 a
normal, interactive browser. Translations are restricted to HTML documents.
Plain text files and non HTTP URLs will be rejected.

* URLs should either end with a slash (/) or a filename.
Some examples of fully qualified names are:
http://www.systransoft.com/eu/=20_java/ml
http://www.systransoft.com/translate.html
http://www.systransoft.com/~elmer/te.html
Some examples of URLs that are not fully qualified are:
http://www.systransoft.com/~elmer/te.html
http://www.systransoft.com/~elmer/te.html

* limit the size of documents to 10K. If you must translate a larger
document, contact SYSTRAN.

* Framed documents are not currently supported:

The problem is that the translation system is independent of the client
browser. Until frames came along, HTML documents, as presented to a browser,
were self-contained. With the advent of frames, a single document is now
spread over perhaps several files. However, at some point we will introduce
a client-side add-on to popular browsers that will allow translations
to take
place regardless of the HTML extensions they implement.

* Pre-formatted text--text that is found between the codes and --will be
translated, but it will lose all its formatting. In addition, special HTML
characters, such as the open angle bracket (<) and the ampersand (&)
frequently appear in pre-formatted text blocks. These special characters,
when they appear inside pre-formatted text blocks, sometimes cause the HTML
filter to make mistakes.

The underlying translation system is SYSTRAN's Translation Server. The
servers are running on a Pentium 100 with 32MB RAM under WindowsNT
Workstation 3.51.
