	(Information Technology Industries Library & Information Centre)

Information Technology Industries Library & Information centre(ITILIC) is an 
informal forum of Librarians & Information Professionals from IT Industry. . 

* ITILIC CHARTER:

  * OBJECTIVES:

ITILIC will be communication co-ordination channel for all its members. It
exist to act as information/communication channel to provide directional
support to its members.  This will help improving the library processes &
services to market high value products & services of their respective
libraries to all its users by making use of ITILIC forum activities. 

  * PRINCIPLES:
	
	ITILIC forum provides:

Professional development,

Sharing of resources (minimum) with its participating members,

Evaluation the library processes/services, vendors, customer,

Implementation of uniform guidelines for vendors/customers.

Sharing & solving  day-to-day problems encounterd in the libraries in the 
form lectures/discussions ,

Implementation of IT tools in their libraries to suit their customer needs.

Reviewing of the ITILIC forum activities on a periodic basis. 

ITILIC forum will practice continuous improvement in all its activities.


  * SCOPE:

Members of this forum are limited to library professionals who are working in 
the area of Information Technology. Membership is more informal i.e. without 
any membership fees, with minimum obligation(sharing of resources) and Active 
participation.

P.S.: This forum is not registered and has no office location with office 
bearers.  However, the member should get permission from his/her 
organisational head to participate in the forum. The uniqueness of this forum 
is each of the participating members is responsible for the achievement of 
forum's objectives.


* REGULAR MEETINGS:

The meeting will be held once in a month at each of the members office. This 
provides an opportunity for all the others to have a look at the other IT 
libraries. In each of the meetings, one or two specific topics related to Lib 
& Information will be discussed in the form of lectures delivered by the 
members themsleves in turn. So far, we had 19 such meetings.

* ACTIVITIES:

  * Database of all ITILIC MEMBERS:

A detailed database has been created with complete information of the 
company, Products, library collection, services, professionals, address for 
communication, library automation process, facilities etc.

   * Survey of all member libraries:

A survey has been conducted about the usage of library, its collection 
growth, procedures involved in procurement, terms & conditions of supply of 
info. Products, status of library automation, software used. etc. and this is 
circulated among the members.

   * Exchange of Information :

The members are circulating among themselves about the new arrivals, holdings 
of the list of periodical/reports, sending relevent articles in the field of 
library & information science, bringing awareness of new sources of 
information sources, etc.

   * Resource sharing:

As an obligation to the membership of ITILIC, all member libraries are 
sharing their resources within the framework of the member libraries 
constitution. Sharing of resources may be on Inter library loan, photocopying 
 , Current contents service, and reference service by using existing 
infrastructure of the host library.

  * Union List of Journals:

A mini project of launching of Union list of periodicals of ITILIC members 
for the year 1997 has been carried and implemented. On-line list of journals 
subscribed by the member libraries with their contact e-mail address is 
accessable thro' web.

  * Evaluation of books/journals/software vendors performance:

There will be regular evaluation of vendor's performance appraisal by all the 
members. 

  * Sharing of Experience:

There will be half an hour lecture cum demostration of the experience which 
the member is specialised are being done as part of the regular meetings. 
These discussions are mainly focussed on the day-today issues like collection 
development, procurement policies, reference evaluation, stcok verification,  
library software, automation processes,  etc. and also extended to generic 
level like Public relations, Professional ethics, presentation techniques, 
ISO 9000, Internet etc.

  * Demo of Library Infrastructures:

Demo will be arranged for the new IT products related to libraries in the 
market. Ex: CDSERV, ELIS software package, In-house libraray softwares etc.

ITILIC: Work towards bridging communication gap.
