DELNET DATABASE ACCESS THROUGH E-MAIL
DELNET takes pleasure in announcing the launch of
DELSEARCH
the software developed inhouse by DELNET for searching
DELNET databases through E-mail from any part of the world.
DELSEARCH opens a window to all the institutions, infor
mation specialists, librarians and users interested in
bibliographies and textual information on South Asia.
DELNET at present offers the following databases for users
around the world. These databases are perpetually being
updated and are increasing in size:
a) Union Catalogue of Books (2,75,295 records)
b) Union List of Serials (116 libraries)
i) Science & Technology (9,080 records)
ii) Social Sciences ( 7,937 records)
iii) Humanities (1,320 records)
(c) Database of Periodical Articles (50,693 records)
(d) Union Catalogue of Serials (6,093 records)
(e) Specialist Database : A Who's Who (1,543 records)
DELSEARCH, for searching DELNET databases through
E-mail, is the first of its kind in the world which is also
the most economical and user friendly remote access facili
ty.
The DELSEARCH facility can be availed by only
individuals and institutional members of DELNET. There has
been a persistant demand from individuals and institutions in
India and outside India for accessing DELNET databases. We
take pleasure in announcing the followng membership rates :
Institutions/libraries in India :
Admission fee Rs. 5,000/-
Annual membership fee : Rs. 5,000/-
Institutions/Libraries outside India :
Admission fee : $ 2000/-
Annual Membership fee : $ 2000/-
Temporary Individual Membership
Research scholars /individuals in India : Rs. 5,000/- p.a.
Research scholars/individuals outside India : $ 500/- p.a.
All institutions and individuals searching through DEL
SEARCH will be entitled to receive 10,000 search records
within the annual membership fee. Any further records
received through DELSEARCH will be charged at Rs. 1/- per
record within India and 50 cents outside India.
Those individuals and institutions interested in membership
of DELNET are welcome to apply to the Director, DELNET on
the application form given at the end either through E-mail
[mem@delnet.ren.nic.in] or by post.
Membership of individuals is temporary. They may apply directly
to the Director DELNET giving full particulars. Further de
tails about DELSEARCH will be communicated to interested
users. Users interested in the membership of DELNET will be
given free access to DELNET databases through DELSEARCH for a
period of 15 days after receiving the full payment for
membership. If found unsatisfactory within a period of 15
days, membership fee will be refunded.
DELNET is planning to expand its "Books in Print" data
base very soon with special offers of free catalogue cards
and machine readable data with every order placed through
DELNET.
DELNET is also planning to launch soon National Bibliograph
ic Database which will offer access to millions of MARC
records of Indian books in due course of time.
