An important newly upgraded full-scale water treatment plant

Vigneux-sur-Seine just south of Paris. This French plant is now the

5) Advanced Digestion Process Makes High Grade Sludge in Tennessee


At the Franklin, Tennessee, municipal wastewater treatment plant, a

process with a complicated-sounding name is turning sewage sludge into

"Class A biosolids" that can be applied to land. The efficient process
is

known as Autothermal Thermophilic Aerobic Digestion...

6)Water Pollution Control Corp. Acquires Aeration Engineering Resources,
Inc.


Water Pollution Control Corp. (WPCC) has completed the acquisition of
the

assets of Aeration Engineering Resources, Inc. (AERCOR) located in

Sterling, Mass. 


Announcing the acquisition during the WEFTEC '97® in Chicago, Frank

L.Schmit, WPCC's Chairman, said, "The capabilities of the AERCOR people

greatly expand the resources of Water Pollution Control Corp. to
continue

its goal toward becoming recognized worldwide as the most competent and

complete source of aeration

technology and products."

7) U.S. Filter Acquires JWI, Inc.


On the first day of WEFTEC 97®, being held in Chicago, United States

Filter Corporation announced the acquisition of JWI, Inc., a Holland,

Michigan-based global provider of filter presses and sludge drying

equipment. JWI is North America's largest manufacturer of filter
presses,

and has over 6,000 installations of its "J-Press" worldwide.

8) Black & Veatch will Perform Studies for EPRI


In efforts to help municipalities comply with environmental

regulations mandating very low levels of silver discharge

from wastewater treatment plants, the Association of

Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies asked Black & Veatch and Apogee Research
to

evaluate the impact of a Silver Council-proposed Code of Management

Practices versus the two compliance mechanisms -- general permits and

flow-adjusted concentration-based limits.

system,

keeping them from overflowing the weir and filling receiving waters
