11. LIBRARY & ENVIS CENTRE
Back to
The Centre for Ecological Sciences has established an
extensive collection of Books, Reports and Journals. This
activity has been partly financed by the block grant from the
Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. In
addition an Environmental Information System (ENVIS) has been
functioning at the Centre since February 1985 with separate
funds, also from the Ministry of Environment and Forests
Government of India. The library and ENVIS Centre together now
possess over 4,600 Books, 10,000 Reports, 15,000 Reprints and 47
Journals. This facility is very extensively utilised by staff
and students of the Centre, the Indian Institute of Science in
general and a large number of visitors. Over 200 books are loaned
every year, about 150 visitors use this facility for consultation
and about 80 to 100 specific queries are answered by us. We have
published a catalogue of our book collection with subject, title
and author indices in the form of CES technical report number 71.
It would give us pleasure to make this facility even more widely
accessible.
