LANDSCAPE ECOLOGIST/PLANT COMMUNITY ECOLOGIST.
Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Department of Geography/Assistant
 Heritage Biologist in Oklahoma Biological Survey at University of Oklahoma
starting July 1996, with 12-month salary of $42,000.  Responsibility, as active
member of Oklahoma Natural Heritage Inventory (a division of Survey),
for inventory evaluation and classification of biological communities,
and for coordinating with other faculty/professional staff in carrying
out functions of Heritage Inventory.  Teach one course plus seminar in
Department of Geography, and be active in undergraduate and graduate
programs.  Both Survey and Department expect person to develop active
research program in area of specialty.  Ph.D. required.  Successful
applicant must demonstrate: research productivity and potential for
external funding; knowledge of vegetation classification systems and
approaches; ability to conduct botanical field and associated
laboratory studies in landscape and plant community ecology; ability
to incorporate geographic information systems and remote sensing in
studies; knowledge of ecosystems and biological communities of
southern Great Plains; and skills in teaching and in written and oral
