DUES NOTICE 1999

Dear Past, Present, or Future ISEM member:

Sweeping changes in the operation of ISEM took place in 1997 and 1998. We hope these changes  improved the service and benefits our members receive. In brief, administration of world-wide member services is now consolidated into a single office, Ecological Modelling is the official journal of ISEM, and the ECOMOD newsletter will also be published in Ecological Modelling. Over the next two years, we also hope to develop new benefits for our members related to book and software discounts and other amenities. The International Meeting of ISEM was held in North America in 1998 in conjunction with AIBS.  The 1999 meeting will be held together with ESA in Spokane, Washington State.  See you there!

Once again this year, there is no increase in membership dues. However, the subscription rate changed for 1999. This subscription rate is available only to our members. We always keep the dues for students especially low and this year we would like to see a significant increase in student membership. Please encourage your students and colleagues to join us in building the Society.

Wolfgang Pittroff Secretary-General, ISEM

Update March 9, 1999:
Due to persistent concerns about the dues notification, invoicing and journal delivery, we have implemented the following changes:

A.  All dues must be paid directly to ISEM at the address listed below.
B.  All subscription dues for Ecological Modelling  will be invoiced directly by Elsevier and thus must not be included in your dues payment to ISEM.

How does this work in practice?
Example 1:
Assume you want to become a regular member in ISEM:  Fill out the form below and send your payment in US funds to the Secretary-General of ISEM.

Example2:
Assume you wish to join ISEM as a student member and subscribe to Ecologial Modelling. Fill out the membership form below and send your DUES ONLY to ISEM.  ISEM will then notify Elsevier, and you will be invoiced for the subscription directly by Elsevier.
