Norway:

The national goals of Norway are in accordance with those specified in the Montreal Protocol:

CFC’s:
1995: Consumption to cease.
Goal attained.

Halons:
1994: Consumption to cease.
Goal attained.

Carbon tetrachloride:
1995: Consumption to cease
Goal attained.

1,1,1-trichlorethane (Methylchloroform):
1996: Consumption to cease
Goal attained.

Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFC’s):
1995: Stabilization of consumption.
Basis year: 1989.
HCFC level of 1989 + 2.6% of the CFC-level of 1989:
20% reduction by year 2000
35% reduction by 2004
60% reduction by 2007
80% reduction by 2010
95% reduction by 2013
2015: Consumption to cease

Methyl bromide:
1995: Stabilization of consumption at 1991 level
Basis year:1991.
25% reduction by 1998
50% reduction by 2005

International:

The Montreal Protocol

Montreal 16.09.87.
Objectives: To protect the ozone layer by taking precautionary measures to control global emissions of substances that deplete it. Signatory nations are committed to phase out their use of CFCs and some other halocarbons by the year 2000.
Ratified by Norway 24.6.1988. Entry into force 01.01.89.

The Copenhagen Agreement

In November 1992, growing fears of ozone depletion led to the Copenhagen Agreement, which commits governments to a total phase-out of the most destructive CFCs by the year 1996. This will help to protect the ozone layer and reduce the role of CFCs in climate change, although the benefits of these agreements will not be felt for several years due to the long life-span of CFCs.
