Romerike - a case study
Clearcuttings and biodiversity
The map gives an impression of the consequences of modern forestry. The old growth forest remaining is fragmented, and does not give a sustainable habitat to species dependent on continous old forest. Other species may have advantages from large areas of clearcuttings. E.g the population of norwegian moose has grown considerably in this area during the last decades.
