The Ninth Biennial Conference
on
“Ecological Sustainability and Human Well-Being”
from
15 – 18 December 2006

The India Habitat Centre, New Delhi

The Indian Society for Ecological Economics (INSEE), Delhi
The Ninth Biennial Conference of the International Society for Ecological Economics (ISEE) will be held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi , India from the 15th to the 18th of December 2006 . The main theme of the conference will be ' Ecological Sustainability & Human Well-Being'.
The conference is being organized in India for the first time. A large number of South Asian organizations will participate in this conference in a need to understand pertinent ecological issues faced by the South Asian nations which have off late become major players in the world economy. This conference is an occasion for young researchers in ecological economics from South Asia to meet colleagues from other parts of the world, and from this platform much interaction, new research projects and policy proposals shall arise.
The conference will have technical sessions, round tables, and invited plenary and general plenary sessions on topics around the main theme. Further details can be found at the conference website www.isee2006.com .

2 . Hazard Reduction and the 2004 Asian Tsunami
3 . Philosophical Roots of Ecological Economics: Gandhi and Beyond

All participants are invited to submit abstracts for presentation in Oral paper/Poster Sessions. Deadline for submission of Abstracts is July 31, 2006 . Submitted material should not be previously published. The combined length of the abstract body, title, and tables and illustrations may not exceed 250 words, on one 8” by 11.5” page. Abstract must be in text and submitted via e-mail to http://www.isee2006.com/absonline.asp .
Members of the scientific committee will evaluate the quality of the submitted abstract. Confirmation of acceptance will be communicated to the author by August 31, 2006. Limited financial resource exists to enable the participation of young and developing country researchers.
