Tamenglong District has a number of exquisite orchids. They are epiphytic, lithophytic and terrestrial in nature. The Sub-tropical forests are found on the highest altitudes. Varieties of orchids are found in this zone of forests. The Phius tunkervels, a rare terrestrial orchid is found in the Barak valley.
