US award for eco-trust

BANGALORE: The Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), an institution for conservation of India’s biological resources, has been awarded Rs 5 crore from the Sehgal Family Foundation, USA.

Foundation Chairman Dr Suri Sehgal said: “ATREE has addressed some of India’s most important and persistent environmental problems using relatively few resources.’’ ATREE’s present focus is on the Western Ghats and Eastern Himalayas, which are among the 25 global biodiversity hotspots.
