Kerala against inter linking Western Ghat rivers |

| THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala will oppose plans to link rivers originating
from the Western Ghats as part of the Centre's ambitious river inter linking
project, state Irrigation Minister T M Jacob told the Assembly on Thursday. The state has asked the Centre to call a chief ministers' meet before drawing up the "river-garlanding project", Jacob said during the Question Hour. As far as Kerala is concerned, inter linking of Western Ghats rivers sounded "unscientific", he said, adding the state would oppose the proposal to inter connect the Pampa, the Achankovil and the Vypar. |
