Abstract: Detailed study on the Drosophila fauna of the tropical rain forests of Western Ghats is present. Survey reveals 40 species of four different genera, namely Drosophila Streptomyza, Bhortecella and Lecophenga, each of latter is presented by one species only. Among the rest 37 species of Drosophila, D. malerkotliana and D. nausta are ecologically versatile. Sympatric association and ecologically dominance of D. melanogaster and D. immigrans are indicated.
