Abstract

Kirby (1914) describes three species of Autarchies in India viz. A. miliaris, A. punctatus, and A. scabiosae and further states that according to certain workers the two later species are only variety of the first mentioned one which forms the type of the genus. This position appears to be correct in view of the clone resemblance of the three forms Locust and serious grasshoppers pests are practically unknown in Travencore and the only previous record is of an outbreak A.miliaris at Manimala near the lower slopes of the Western Ghats in Travencore.
