The following two positions are available for individuals currently
living near Waterloo, Ontario.
1) GIS and Data Management Specialist
The GIS and Data Management Specialist will be responsible for a
wide variety of water resources-related activities including; GIS
map development and production, environmental database development
and reporting, GIS and environmental data analysis. The position
will require frequent site visits to client offices in Southwestern
Ontario. The successful candidate will work well independently and
have a demonstrated career goal of applying GIS and database
technology in the water resources and environmental sectors.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or
university in planning, engineering, computer science, or closely
related field; and at least two (2) years of professional experience
in developing and implementing geographic information systems and
database management systems on environmental and water resources
projects.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience using ArcGIS, Manifold GIS, Microsoft Access, and SQL
Server databases;
- Experience working with electronic laboratory data deliverables
and other environmental monitoring databases;
- Experience working in water-related fields including hydrology and
hydrogeology is required; and
- Programming experience using Visual Basic or Visual Basic.NET
would be an asset.
2) Groundwater Modelling Specialist
AquaResource Inc. is currently looking for a groundwater modelling
specialist to join its team of water resources and information
technology professionals. The successful candidate will be involved
in leading-edge projects dealing with source water protection, water
resource impact assessments, and contaminant hydrogeology. The ideal
candidate should have a strong background in numerical methods,
water resources and hydrogeology.
REQUIREMENTS: A Master's degree in geotechnical/geo-
environmental/hydrogeology with emphasis on subsurface hydrology and
modelling is required. Ideally, we are looking for a professional
with at least 2 years of applied experience and a strong desire to
further their career in an entrepreneurial atmosphere.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with MODFLOW, GIS, and database management systems;
- Ability to work in a team situation or independently;
- Experience with advanced models;
- Experience with advanced visualization software;
- Experience with continuous surface water flow and quality
modelling; and
- Programming experience using C++ or Visual Basic.
