Qualified students must apply and be granted academic admission to the UH graduate program. The graduate research assistantship is a half-time academic appointment in which an eligible graduate student contributes nominally 20 hours a week of research assistance to the faculty while carrying an academic course load of at least six degree-related credits (full-time student status for graduate assistants). Research assistantships of 11 months currently carry a minimum stipend of $14,382 and include a tuition waiver. Students supported by these assistantships will be enrolled in an academic program such as Bioengineering or Mechanical Engineering.
