MathTYpe 

Here are a few characteristics of Mathtype ver 4, a wildly popular 
product thats been flying out of the door these days!!!!  If you 
publish technical papers with lots of mathematical equations
interspersed, you can't do without MathType.

Easy-To Use Graphical Interface :
 You can quickly build complex equations with simple point and click 
 techniques.  There are no code words to remember. You add each 
mathematical symbol and template  to your equation by simply choosing 
its icon with the mouse or keyboard. 

Automatic Formatting :
 MathType applies the rules of mathematical typesetting as you type. 
It  automatically  chooses fonts,style, spacing and position as you 
enter the equation.

You can modify MathType's spacing rules to accommodate your own 
style, or switch between automatic formatting and plain text modes 
with a single keystroke. For maximum flexibility and control, 
MathType gives you the ability to nudge equation elements in 1/4 
point increments. 

-  Automatically change spacing, font styles and sizes of all 
equations in a Microsoft Word document without having to open each 
individual equation 
-  Convert equations created in older versions of MathType, Word's 
   Equation Editor, or Word's "EQ" formula fields into MathType 
equations 
-  Convert all equations in a document toTeX, LaTeX and MathML 
-  Number and cross-reference equations. You have many number 
   formatting choices. Double-clicking on an equation reference moves 
the insertion point to  the referenced equation. 
-  Associate MathType Preference files with a Word document template. 
   That Preference loads into MathType any time you open a document 
using the template. 
-  Using the toolbar, it is easy to insert mathematical notation 
inline or centered, with or without equation numbers, to renumber 
equations on the fly and to insert equation references and section 
numbers.
