ESRI International User Conference 2002 - ESRI concluded its 22nd Annual
ESRI International User Conference, during which more than 12,000 GIS
professionals came together to share their experiences and knowledge.
While in attendance we posted a number of daily features and images from

of the announcements made last week. Exhibitors, if you announced or

details to pr@geocomm.com. Later today we'll have a few images from the
Thursday night Oktoberfest celebration as well as a brief look at ArcIMS
4.0. Finally, on Friday I had a bit of a mix-up with an image listed in
the newsletter due to some frantic posting of news prior to running to
the airport for my return flight... sorry to Rich Turner & Jack
Dangermond for the blunder! Mark your calendars, the 2003 ESRI UC takes
place July 7-11, 2003.

[cynthi3_small.gif] Amboseli Elephant Research Project - In 1968, Cynthia
Moss made the life changing decision to move to Africa to study elephants
in northern Tanzania. Four years later, she found ideal conditions for
studying elephants in Amboseli National Park - a protected area of 150
square miles in southern Kenya. Last week, attendees at the International
ESRI UC had a chance to hear about the project in a special presentation
from Cynthia Moss. Now with the help of ESRI and other corporate
sponsors, GIS will play an integral role in maintaining and analyzing
some 30 years worth of data collected for the project.
