Dear T.V. Ramachandra,
Along with rather extensive monthly updates of www.teamgeomedia.com this
month, many of you will be interested in information on exhibiting
opportunities at GeoSpatial World 2004, the Intergraph GeoSpatial Users
Community (IGUC) annual international training and management conference.
The GeoSpatial World 2004 exhibitor prospectus is now available online
and exhibitor applications are now being accepted. The conference offers
an exceptional opportunity for Team GeoMedia members to exhibit their
products, services, and solutions to Intergraph customers from around the
world. Improvements to the GeoSpatial World 2004 exhibit include a new
exhibit schedule, more non-competing exhibit hours, more exhibitor
benefits, and a new floor plan to improve traffic to third-party vendors.
Reserve your space today.

It has been a terrific year for Team GeoMedia, with membership growing to
more than 900 members worldwide. This tremendous growth can be attributed
largely due to interest in the Registered Research Laboratory (RRL)
Program (See “wealth of knowledge” in the Team GeoMedia
Online Research Library), and a significant increase of Certified
Professionals worldwide. Keeping the renewal ratio among the RSP, RSC,
and Subscriber programs above 90 percent, we greatly appreciate your
continued interest in our technology and support.

Thank you for your business and we at Intergraph look forward to another
successful year in partnership with you. Enjoy your holiday season!

Best regards,

Leos Svoboda
Team GeoMedia Manager

December 2003 Updates on www.teamgeomedia.com | Top of Page

TechNet (www.teamgeomedia.com/technet)

1 NEW Sample Applications:

 * CSharp Sample Application (written using Borland C#) - allows the
user to connect to an Access warehouse from which a list of Features
is displayed on the dialog. Each feature can then be selected for
display in the MapView. The legend can be toggled on and off as well
as having the view manipulations of Zoom and Fit.

4 NEW Hints and Tips

 * 3 Web programming tips: using a WMS Adapter Kit to implement a WMS
Server; developing a custom application that exports each legend
entry to a shapefile before further processing; and creating a
    multi-line tooltip in GeoMedia WebMap
 * 1 General programming tip: adding a recordset to the
    MapViewSelectedObjects collection

4 Sample Commands:

 * Source Connections of a Legend Entry (Traversing Pipe Hierarchy) -
returns a list of names of connections from which a given legend
entry recordset is derived. The extensions mechanism is used for
tracking the "creation history" of the recordset. An assumption is
that the recordset was created only using GeoMedia pipes (not e.g. by
OpenRecordset method). This assumption is valid for all commands of
GeoMedia Professional framework. The pipes that took part in creating
the recordset can be optionally reported.
 * Attach Records - a sample command to attach attributes from an Access
database to the geometries in the MapViewSelectedObjects collection.
 * Add Feature To Map - adds a feature from a given connection to the
current map window. It also adds the related Query object to
    Document.QueryFolder.QuerySubFolders("Features") to be compliant with
legend entries created by the GeoMedia framework. Furthermore, if
there is a spatial filter on the connection, it applies the spatial
    filter to OriginatingPipe object.
 * Add Bitmap Mask - allows you to add a bitmap mask to a legend entry
that has been assigned a bitmap style.

5 Technical Papers:

 * Using Help with Custom Commands (HTML help) NEW - Discusses the
various methods of providing help in a GeoMedia or GeoMedia
Professional custom command. *Note that the help format was converted
from Win Help to HTML help in version 5.1.
 * Metadata Field Formats (updated for version 5.1) - Describes the
results of data types and field format combinations to GeoMedia
feature class attributes. The formatting information focuses on how
data entered by the user for values in read/write (Access) feature
classes will be formatted and displayed by the application.
 * Changing the Active Coordinate System (updated for version 5.1) -
Describes the effect of changing the coordinate system definition on
the map view and displayed data.
 * Approaches to Customization (updated for version 5.1) - Describes the
various mechanisms available for customizing the GeoMedia product.
 * Data Set Storage Size (updated for version 5.1) - The U.S. sample
data set and Madison County data set delivered using GeoMedia 5.1
were imported into various GIS and graphics data formats for the
purpose of determining the storage size required in each of the
    formats.

vehicles using the same roadway network used for linear referencing
and employ LRS features such as bridges or number of lanes in order
    to restrict travel.

2 New Webcasts

 * Interoperability: One database - multiple applications: details a
collaboration among Autodesk, Intergraph, Laser-Scan, and MapInfo,
along with Oracle, which resulted in the creation of interoperability
kits for customers looking to build and leverage multi-vendor
systems. The kits are based on Oracle technology and automatically
convert geographic feature types that are compatible across two or
more systems. Learn how to download your FREE interoperability kits,
as well as support multiple applications, increase productivity,
increase data accessibility, and improve communication among
    departments.
 * 10 Reasons to Work with Panasonic - Panasonic is one of
Intergraph’s key partners for the Utilities and Communication
vertical. It provides some very reliable hardware for our mobile
solutions. You will want to check out this Webcast to see the how
    Panasonic differentiates from the competition.

6 New Case Studies

 * 3001 Inc. (USA), the first North American owner and operator of a
Digital Mapping Camera (DMCO) from Z/I Imaging Corporation, captures
extremely accurate digital imagery for New Mexico government in
    record time.
 * Progress Energy Florida (USA) uses integrated outage and mobile
workforce management solutions from Intergraph to restore power in
record time following a major tornado earlier this year.
 * Transend Networks Pty Ltd. (Australia) establishes a Web-based Land
Information Management (LIM) system using GeoMedia technology because
of its open architecture and ability to further expand the system in
the future using spatial data in multiple formats.
 * Lutheran Church of Muhos (Finland) turned to GeoMedia technology to
improve cemetery services through the implementation of a LIM
solution, which incorporates GPS technology to survey exact
gravesites, and locate empty, reserved, and occupied sites, as well
as reduce mistakes associated with poor documentation capabilities.
 * The City-Parish of Baton Rouge, Louisiana (USA), through a
collaborative effort with the Army Corps of Engineers, implemented a
GeoMedia technology-based solution that could be used with any data
format or platform, which resulted in reduced personnel workload by
    making information available online.
 * The Geographic Institute of the Army (Portugal) redesigned its
existing production stream to take part in the generation of new
military products and standards issued by NIMA, which helped to put
Portugal's armed forces in a position where they could purchase and
implement most weapons found on modern battlefields, make the
