From broadcast@iisc.ernet.in Fri Oct 22 10:18:58 2004 Date: Tue, 19 Oct 2004 12:13:45 +0530 (IST) From: Broadcast-IIScReply-To: stcell@aero.iisc.ernet.in To: Broadcast Service-IISc Subject: stcell:call for research proposal ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CALL FOR RESEARCH PROPOSALS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ISRO-IISc Space Technology Cell Indian Institute of Science Bangalore - 560 012 Invites from IISc Faculty Research Proposals for financial support under the Sponsored Research Programme: The research work proposed should be in the areas of relevance to space science, technology and applications (a list containing the research topics provided by ISRO Centres is available with the STC Office, and will be sent by e-mail [as attachment file] to the interested faculty, on request. -The proposal should be brief (not more than 8 pages) and include the details such as, -names and addresses of the Principal & Co-investigators, -names of the collaborators/co-investigators from ISRO and their expected contribution, -scope of the project, -project duration (maximum 3 years), -funds required for each year, under the heads (i) Salaries, (ii) Equipment and (iii) Working Expenses (with details of personnel to be appointed, equipment to be procured and fund required for contingencies/consumables/travel, etc.), -the deliverables (year-wise) Though the funds available with STC are limited, projects with reasonably high budget, can be considered on the basis of merit and if they are useful for the current/future ISRO programs since ISRO is keen to look at the deliverables that is useful to its programs. Please carefully examine the deliverables and the required funding. You may note that STC by-laws set by the JPC does not allow re-appropriation of salary grant to other debit heads. Those who wish to write the proposal, please obtain the 'Format' available with STC Office (by e-mail stcell@aero.iisc.ernet.in or in person). The proposals should reach the STC Office on or before 1st December 2004 (One hard copy and an electronic file). The proposals need not be routed through the Schemes Section. Those who submit the proposals are required to make an oral presentation of their proposal during the Annual Inhouse Seminar of the Space Technology Cell (tentatively scheduled on 4th & 5th February 2005). The projects selected after a due process of evaluation, will get support from 1st April 2005. The funding for subsequent years is based on satisfactory progress presented during the In-house Seminar. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Space Technology Cell will also support organizing Workshops/Seminars/Short-term Courses, etc, in the Institute in the areas of space science and technology. A seed money of about Rs.5,000/- to Rs.15,000/- may be sanctioned, based on the relevance of the program to space and the availability of funds.
