OCEAN MODELLING the only scientific journal devoted exclusively to all aspects of ocean modelling Editor-in-Chief:: Peter Killworth, James Rennell Division, Southampton Oceanography Centre, UK. Email: omod@soc.soton.ac.uk [601376.gif] Since Ocean Modelling was first published in January 1999, it has been a success with both authors and readers alike. It undoubtedly serves a need, being the only peer-reviewed journal devoted to ocean and atmospheric modelling. Publishing papers of excellent quality, the journal is growing steadily and attracting a dedicated community of scientists. It is expected to double its size in 2004. Ocean Modelling aims at rapid publication of peer-reviewed research papers in all aspects of ocean and ocean-atmospheric modelling from data analyses to the nitty-gritty of model building and numerics. In recent issues it has covered such issues as assimilation, climate models, sea ice, turbulence, air-sea interaction, parameterisations, and tides. Though predominantly physics-based, chemical and biological ocean modelling is also included and encouraged. In the past five years, the journal has expanded from a niche journal purely for ocean modellers, to a publication outlet and a valued information source for all scientists working in oceanography. Ocean Modelling clearly serves as an important forum for both groups to interact and share information. Here is a selection of recent articles: Assimilating 20 years of Atlantic XBT data into HYCOM: a first look W. C. Thacker, S. -K. Lee, G. R.
