Boyce"Subject: Fuzzy Set Ordination Web Page I'd like to announce the debut of the Fuzzy Set Ordination Web Page at: http://www.du.edu/~rboyce/fso/modivkabc.htmb.htmnlineSearch.cfm?OpenView/cha Fuzzy set ordination (FSO) is a form of ordination based on fuzzy set theory that was introduced about 12 years ago by Dave Roberts at Utah State University. It hasn't been used a lot, in part because software to run it has not been available. This is an attempt to rectify that situation. Sample programs and data sets for both relative abundance data and presence/absence data that are written in SAS are now freely available for downloading; the user may modify them for his or her own data. SAS is not the ideal program for ordination, but it is widely available and platform-independent. I also hope to stimulate someone with programming skills to create a more user-friendly software package (hint, hint!). I've also included programs with a routine to minimize the "curlover" effect seen in FSO (analogous to the horseshoe or arch effect of PCA). I expect that there are still some bugs in the programs and/or the web page. Please send bug reports to me at the address given below and I will fix them as soon as possible. Other feedback is welcome, too. Please send me any FSO references that I have missed, too. Rick Boyce ============================= Richard L.
