Housing, utilities and vehicle provided. LOCATION OF POSITION: Applications are being accepted to fill one temporary position at the Fish and Wildlife Research Center, Columbia, Missouri. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Successful Applicant will: - Participate in a study to assess changes in vegetation structure and plant species composition for select USDA conservation practices. Duties include: - Mapping land use data from the Natural Resource Conservation Services files. - Contacting private landowners. - Vegetation monitoring on private land. - Perform other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from (or enrollment in) an accredited college or university with course emphasis in wildlife management, zoology, or closely related subjects. Experience with plant taxonomy and computers is desirable. SPECIAL ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Ability (and license) to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to learn to operate an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV). Ability to work independently at field locations despite occasional adverse field conditions. Classwork and/or experience in plant taxonomy. Ability to interact comfortably with landowners and personnel from various agencies.
