Supports the conservation of critical bird habitat throughout the Western Hemisphere and is responsible for: (1) implementing and overseeing site linkages between North and Latin America to enhance bird conservation; (2) assisting TNC=92s local, state, regional, national, and international offices and partners in ecoregional and site planning and implementation of site-based conservation action for birds as necessary; and (3) identifying and filling critical information gaps on birds relevant to TNC and its partner=92s needs for conservation planning. Works as part of the Wings of the Americas team and with other TNC staff, academics, government agencies, conservation organizations, and others to ensure that bird-related activities TNC are informed by the best available information and science and are properly integrated with the mission of TNC and its partners. Requirements: advanced degree in biological sciences (preferably Ph.D.) with knowledge of conservation status, distribution, ecology, and management needs of birds in North and/or Latin America and the Caribbean; five years field experience in bird conservation and research, particularly in the neotropics, desirable; ability to work on complex biological and management issues as part of a team and to communicate clearly and effectively; and fluency in English and Spanish.
