Presented by the International Wolf Center and the University of Minnesota Duluth, University College ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------- Rare is the opportunity to hear biologists from India discuss wolf attacks on children, European experts describe the struggle of the wolves in Italy and France, or inside the reports of the ongoing drama of the Mexican wolf reintroduction. Beyond 2000: Realities of Global Wolf Restoration offers just that. The chance to participate in a discussion of global importance with experts and enthusiasts from different continents and different perspectives. Hosted by the International Wolf Center and University College at the University of Minnesota Duluth, Beyond 2000 will feature presentations by biologists, researchers, and professionals exploring the complex and emotional issues associated with wolf recovery around the world. All are invited to participate, learn, and meet others who care about the fate of this magnificent species. CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS Beyond 2000 will include keynote speakers as well as oral and visual (poster material display) presentations. You are invited to submit a proposal for an oral or visual presentation that shares your experiences, field applications, research, or curriculum details. Only professional, well-documented presentations will be accepted. To be considered for inclusion in the program, presentation proposals must be submitted over the web site or postmarked on or before September 10, 1999. Recognizing the importance of education, Saturday, February 26 of Beyond 2000 will highlight presentations by educators. This February 2000 wolf symposium educator day is a unique opportunity for educators to share their experiences and successes in teaching about the wolf in formal and informal education settings. Educators from all backgrounds are welcome to submit their proposals for oral presentations and/or visual/poster displays. The deadline for educator submissions is October 1, 1999. Wolf Educator Day presentations will be divided into the following categories: * Teaching about wolves in the K-5 classroom * Teaching about wolves in the Middle School classroom * Teaching about wolves in the High School classroom * Teaching about wolves in the College classroom * Teaching about wolves in Nature Centers/Informal Education Settings SUBMITTING YOUR ABSTRACT Abstract submission on the web is encouraged. You may type your abstract directly to the web form or copy and paste to the web form from an existing word processing file. See the conference's official web site at http://www.d.umn.edu/wolf2000 and follow the web instructions carefully! If web access is not available, you may submit your abstract on a 3.5" diskette and two copies on plain white paper. The diskette may be formatted for either DOS or Mac and the abstract file may be in Microsoft Word or WordPerfect. The file should also be saved in ASCII Format.
